FULL MOON Volume 59, No. 4 ALBEMARLE fflGH NEWSPAPER 311 Park Ridge Road Albemarle NC 28001 982-3711 DECEMBER 1993 Look Out Hardees, Here They Come! By Heather Smith On November 23,1993, the school board sent a slip out to all Albemarle High School Seniors to get permission from their parents to have an open lunch program. This program starts out as a trial period and if seniors cooperate, our school will petition to the board of education for permission to continue. The trial days are December 3, December 10, January 14, and January 21-all of which are on Fridays. The open hmch program is a privilege for only qualifying seniors; seniors who abuse this privilege by leaving and not coming backwill lose the privilege. The admini stration has the right to cancel the open lunch at any time if they feel it is necessary. This is one of the privileges seniors of AlbemarleHighSchool have worked hard to get and they hope to con tinue the tradition. Brigette and Amanda take full advantage of their freedom. Santa Claus seems to be a carefreejolly man with no worries in the world. While at the North Pole, we jotted down some of his replies to fraw a conclusion to our deep thoughts. Q- Well, Santa, do you have all the toys packed '•P and ready for the big night? No, my elves and I haven’t even started. I figure we will rush at the last minute like we do ®very year! Q. Santa, we were all wondering. Exactly what you do during the summer months in the North Pole? Youcanseebymylooks-EAT!II(HOIHO! HO!) Whyhaven’tyouandMrs.Clauseverhadany kids? (Thank goodness!) Q. Before our long, hectic journey back to Albe marle, there is one question still pondering in our minds: Exactly, how many red suits do you have? A. Acwally, I have narrowed my once numerous wardrobe down to one, whichi ordered firstclass from Macy’s. Well, as you can see, our chat with Santa was very infromative. Hopefully now you have all the answers to the questions you have always wanted to know about Santa and his life. For the past two years, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has participated in the big brother/big sister program with Central, East Albemarle, and North Albemarle elementary schools. Again, the 1993-94 FCA club members have graciously donated their time, love, and dedication to these attention-thirsty childrerL This program helps young students receive a positive outlook on life. Groups of four to six FCA members have been assigned one child to be their little brother or little sister. These members spend lots of time with their adopted siblings. FCA sponsors many activities tht in clude the children to excite them and improve their self-conHdeiKe. Little brothers and sisters go to movies and ballgames, get ice cream, and take shopping trips with their big brothers and sisters. From this experience, FCA members learn to be responsible and tolerant The program also illustrates and prepares young adults for child- raising. Keep up the good work FCA members because, not only are you helping others, but you are also helping yourself.
